The chairman of the Government of Aragon visit the new headquarters of EDS in Zaragoza

The President of the Government of Aragon, Marcelino Iglesias, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment, Alberto Larraz, and the chairman of EDS Spain and Portugal, Santiago Urío, have visited the new center today that the American multinational has installed in Zaragoza.

The growth of services, benefits and employees that the company has experienced in Zaragoza EDS since its creation in 2004, has prompted the company to move its activities to a new space, located on Calle Isabel Santo Domingo, number 6.

The new facilities, more comprehensive and modern, are part of the line of growth and expansion of the center. During its four years of existence has increased its workforce considerably, reaching more than 380 employees. Since the new center also expands the supply of services, providing others more technical level, such as systems management, communications, data security and application development and maintenance.

'The introduction of the European Monitoring Centre four years ago showed the strong commitment of the Government Aragonese to attract new investment projects to assist the development of the region', has assured Marcelino Iglesias, president of the Government of Aragon. 'Today, the expansion of this centre demonstrates the consolidation of Aragon, particularly Tokyo, as one of the centres for business excellence'.

For Santiago Urío, 'expanding the center in Zaragoza responds to the merger of three key elements: a highly qualified workforce, the strategic geographical location of the city and support the government of Aragon.

Zaragoza has served as a platform for the implementation of a dual business strategy. On the one hand, the European Monitoring Centre (CCZ), one of the three centers that EDS has around the world and since has been achieved monitor about 40,000 distribution equipment, providing service to more than 140 customers located in Europe England, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Italy and France.

On the other hand, and root of experience with General Motors, EDS decided in early 2007 to establish the capital of Aragon in the centre of application development and maintenance, and meet the needs of EDS at the national level. The growth in this area since its creation has generated 133 new hires. The amount of these projects gives us a total of 513 new hires since the launch of the two services.
