The National Congress of Pediatrics for Medical Students (CNPEM) has been inaugurated today in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cantabria in a ceremony attended by several authorities. Among them were the chairman of the Regional Parliament, Michelangelo Palace, the Minister of Health of the Government of Cantabria, Luis Maria Truan, vice president of the UC Student, Emilio Eguía, councillor of Health and the Municipality of Santander, M ª del Carmen Martin.
The second edition of the forum, organized by the Student Union at the Faculty of Medicine, began with a conference on a very topical issue and interest, "Immigration: A Challenge for pediatric assistance." About he has spoken doctor Alfonso Delgado Rubio, president of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP). Here was held the first forum of experts on the topic "Protocols care in pediatric pathology prevalent," moderated by Jesus Lino Alvarez Granda, a member of the Scientific Committee of Congress who chairs Miguel Garcia Fuentes.
The CNPEM continue tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday, March 1 with several blocks of communications, forums and lectures on topics such as youth violence, papilloma virus infection, drug addiction, childhood asthma, the risk social disturbances development, the rare disease, pediatric research or pharmacogenetics. The last collective meeting will be held on Saturday at 12.15 pm and will revolve around the theme "Obesity: a serious problem for mankind." After she, at 14 am, will be held on closing ceremony of the congress.
The director of the Congress, Celia Arconada, and the delegate center, Natalia Castaneda, explaining that the meeting has exceeded expectations created by the success of the first edition, as they are witnessing the same nearly 200 people and among the speakers are prestigious specialists from different parts of Spain. In addition, this year the CNPEM has acquired an international character and is supported by many institutions and business partners, in addition to the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital Marques de Valdecilla.
