The Commonwealth has invested 62 million euros in Manzanares Real

This was stated by the senior vice president of Executive Madrid, Ignacio Gonzalez, in a press conference following the Governing Council that was held this Thursday at the Royal Castle Manzanares, on the occasion of the 25 anniversary of the signing of the Statute of Autonomy Comunidad de Madrid.

The regional government has taken advantage of this circumstance to account for the investments made by the Community in this mountain town, especially in the rehabilitation of its medieval castle which receives 67,000 visitors a year.

The president, Esperanza Aguirre, has also appeared in a press conference and explained that the castle depends on the Community since the county council and the owners of the fortress agreed his assignment for 50 years, extendable for another 15 years, so the Regional Administration is their responsibility to the year 2030.

Therefore, the Commonwealth is carrying out a plan for the use of tourist compound consisting of three phases, the first of which has been the recovery of furniture, pictures and wealth inside, as indicated by Ignacio Gonzalez.

The second phase, running, is the lighting and landscaping of the environment and the third in the construction of two attached buildings, one for the shop and one for cafeteria.

Moreover, it is retrieved the castle chapel and the church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves will invest 7 million in the recovery of the Pedriza and an environmental education centre which will receive 40,000 students a year.

The Community also bury the high-voltage lines in the municipality; is launching buses to Collado Villalba and Colmenar, a night to line the Plaza de Castilla Madrid and is doubling and improving roads linking Manzanares with Tres Cantos, and Colmenar Viejo Soto del Real.
