CiU proposes new pacts Moncloa on immigration, education and services

The head of the list of CiU to Congress, Josep Antoni Duran Lleida, has proposed signing after the elections on March 9 about 'new covenants de la Moncloa,' they feel a broad consensus among the political forces represented in Parliament, around immigration, education and social services.

At present today its proposals on self-employed workers in the College of Commercial Agents Barcelona, Duran has advocated recover at a time of economic uncertainty as the living Spain, the spirit of consensus that made possible the Covenants de la Moncloa, an agreement among all parliamentary political forces in 1977 to settle the alarming economic situation then, in one of the weakest periods of Transition.

'It is imperative that the political forces Spanish parliamentary address three basic reforms: immigration, education and the welfare state', has stressed Duran, who has not wanted to go into detail about the content that should have these covenants.

Only with regard to the third of the compacts have indicated how they should approach. According to Duran, the State should not be 'the only guarantor of the welfare society', but it should be 'lay the groundwork for a broad agreement on economic and social policy' to give greater 'ownership to the family in the social field and the self-employed, the family business and the middle classes' in economic matters.
